Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have encountered a variety of interesting independent titles. Yet, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a hero that is actually a piece of poop trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
How you interact is simple: just use a single jump button. Across 150 stages, you'll face boss fights and visit a shop to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Execute your jumps carefully, as a mistake requires starting over. Bounce off bubbles to propel yourself upward, traverse fragile surfaces, and activate triggers to open new areas. Gather currency and use them on more difficult stages in which things intensifies.
In terms of design, the experience boasts vibrant environments and catchy background music. The simple visual style with moving geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, this theme shows up extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is available now on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on computers this November.
